Here are two great fall smoothies that are packed with good nutrients, fiber, and protein….

Green Power Drink

what you need…

  • 1/2 C Coconut Milk
  • 1/2 C Frozen Strawberries
  • 1/2 C Frozen Spinach/Kale
  • 1/2 C 0 % Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Scoop Super Greens
  • *1 Scoop Protein Powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp Honey

This Smoothie comes out as being healthy and delicious! The coconut milk adds the healthy fats so try to keep the yogurt at 0% otherwise the fat content gets too high. Protein Powder is optional, and would be great for post workout. The Greens Supplement I use is cheaper than LivingFuel Supergreens, but I have heard they make one of the best Greens Supplement. Even though there is spinach, adding the extra greens provides many phytochemicals and nutrients that are just hard to get from 1/2 C spinach.

My next concoction is for the fall and goes along with the Pumpkin Spice craze…

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Mmm!

what you need….

  • 1/2 Can Organic Pumpkin
  • 1-2 tbsp Chocolate Hazlenut Spread (Nutella)
  • 1/4 C Apple Cider (fresh)
  • 1/4 C Oats/Oat Bran
  • 2 cubes Ice
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon & Nutmeg
  • *1 Scoop Protein Powder

Again with this one the protein powder is optional and it can be for a post workout shake or if you need a fully nutritious meal. It does add some thickness to the smoothie, which helps the consistency. Nutella is delicious at any time of year! however if your watching your fat content put in a smaller amount. Try not to use processed juices in the big jugs, fresh is always best, and it you don’t like that just use water. Oats will also help with consistency and add fiber. Cinnamon and Nutmeg help increase insulin sensitivity, circulation, are anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and may help lower cholesterol.
