Grocery List for under $100

This is where all the magic happens…that’s right… in the grocery store. I am in awe of how some people shop. You look at some of their carts and think no wonder they look the way they do. Processed breads, sweets, snacks, and etc are EXPENSIVE. Not only that but they do nothing to fill you up, and you end up throwing your money away with a $3 or $4 bag of chips and dip. With $4 I can buy about a crate full of bananas at .49 a lb. Probably not a crate full, but my point is, you can buy a lot for a small price.

Your money should buy you the most amount of food possible. I say hooey to the people that say shopping organic/healthy is TOO expensive. Yes, you pay more for certain items, but I say you cannot live the lifestyle you have been living and expect to spend the same on food! Stop drinking all that milk and dairy at every meal, it is inflammatory and many people are lactose intolerant. That means you can’t have that processed cereal every morning. I don’t care if you have “Total” and that it has 100% of all your vitamins, its crap. With milk it may have about 10 grams of protein, filled with carbs and sugar (don’t forget the the sugar in milk), and less than 5 grams of fiber. Ill take 4 eggs on a “flat out” wrap with bean dip any day of the week over that.
Another issue is feeding the whole family. I say make bigger portions of vegetables, beans and other high fiber foods; Fiber is your best friend in this case. A big slow cooked meal of oatmeal, cinnamon and raisins is a great way to start the day for anyone, and will feed the whole family! Anything that will slow down digestion: think solid hearty foods, not thin, semi-liquid foods. You must change your eating habits and develop meals that are actually healthy for you. Increasing fiber and protein at each meal, while decreasing carbs/sugars is the general rule. I have put together a list from Wegmans that costs under a $100 and should feed a good amount of people along with 6 recipes for the week. Some items from the recipes are not on the list, I figured some things people should already have stocked in their cupboards. Pick one or two of the recipe and make it work for you! As with anything, it takes planning and preparation. Take one day out of the week to organize a grocery list and meals for the week. Use the rest of the day to prepare those meals for the week.
